Maths Tessellation(170708)
What is tessellation ?
------------------------------------
A tessellation is a complete covering of a plane by one or
more figures in a repeating pattern, without any gaps or overlaps.
Translation
------------------------------------
A translation is an action which moves an object through some
distance in a chosen direction. You can think of a translation
as sliding an object across a plane.
Rotation
------------------------------------
A rotation is an action which turn an object through a chosen angle
(called the angle of rotation) about a fixed point (called the centre of
rotation).
Reflections
------------------------------------
A reflection is an action that produce a mirror image of an object.
The line that is midway between the object and its mirror image
is called the mirror line.
Glide Reflection
------------------------------------
A glide reflection occurs when you reflect an object over a mirror line
and then slide it in one direction.
